Asseco Poland relocates IT resources of the PZU Insurance Group

Asseco Poland SA made a relocation of the PZU Group IT resources into the modern data center of GTS Energis. This was one of the largest and fastest relocation projects carried out in Poland. Almost 700 units of hardware and 86 systems were moved just in 110 days.

The IT resources were centralized in a 700-square-metre separate server area in the state-of-the-art Data Center in Piaseczno. The installed information and communication systems serve all the business units incorporated within the PZU Group. Furthermore, the Data Center located in Warsaw functions as a backup facility. Full communication capability between the systems installed at the GTS Energis data centre and the PZU locations is ensured by two independent, fibre-optic data transmission links.

"The relocation project involving such a great amount of IT resources required us to cooperate competently with the hardware producers and other firms who are contracted service providers to PZU. Additional risk was posed by the complexity of IT environment which comprised miscellaneous hardware platforms, new equipment covered by service contracts as well as older devices. Thanks to our experience in integration and good relations with the leading producers of hardware, we managed to complete this project seamlessly for the client's business and within the predetermined time and budget” – said Włodzimierz Serwiński, Vice President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland SA.

The present infrastructure enables continuous access to the PZU's information systems and guarantees continuity of their operation. Owing to suitable technical security solutions (cooling, backup power supply) the systems operate more efficiently and the insurance company is able to provide more competent and faster services to its customers. Centralization enables effective monitoring of data as well as reduction of the infrastructure maintenance costs. Therefore, the PZU Group intends to continue to consolidate its IT infrastructure which is currently dispersed in about 300 locations all over Poland.
