Asseco increases expansion in the African market

Asseco participated in the economic mission of President of Poland Andrzej Duda in Ethiopia. The purpose of the Company's participation in the visit was, among others, presenting the project of computerization of the Ethiopian energy sector and further development plans on the African markets.

Our Company was represented by: Member of the Supervisory Board Dariusz Brzeski and Corporate Manager responsible for coordinating activities in Africa Cezary Miksa. The key event during the visit was the Poland-Ethiopia Business Forum, with the participation of President of Poland Andrzej Duda and President of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome Wirtu, among others. During the Forum the representatives of our Company presented the Asseco Group and its operations in Africa, especially in Ethiopia.

During the next meeting we presented the results of Asseco's cooperation with the Ethiopian governmental agency - the Information Network Security Agency (INSA). Under the agreement, the Company has provided and launched a comprehensive data management IT system, based on the Company's proprietary Asseco Utility Management Solutions (AUMS) software. Our company has also provided consulting services, related, among others, to the development of the ERP software, as well as the transfer of knowledge and information technology enabling the construction of a modern energy market in Ethiopia. The meeting was attended by President of Poland Andrzej Duda, Head of the President's Cabinet Krzysztof Szczerski, Ambassador of Poland to Ethiopia Jacek Jankowski, General Director of INSA General Teklebirham, and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Ethiopia Abdullah Abdullahi.

While talking about the success of the Polish companies' expansion in Africa, President Andrzej Duda repeatedly referred to Asseco. The activity of our Company in Ethiopia was also one of the topics discussed during individual talks between the President of Poland and the President of Ethiopia. President Andrzej Duda gave an example of Asseco even in his speech in the African Union - said Dariusz Brzeski, member of the Supervisory Board of Asseco Poland. This recommendation is a great support for Asseco as it confirms our experience and enhances the chances of winning further projects in the region - he added.

The Asseco Group has been constantly strengthening its position on the African market. Last year, Asseco Software Nigeria (ASN), a subsidiary of the Asseco Group, signed two new contracts in the banking and insurance sector in Nigeria. They are being implemented in the cooperation with Asseco Poland and Asseco Central Europe. In addition, the company has organized workshops in Angola for nearly 80 representatives from the energy and public sectors.
