Asseco has completed the implementation of e-Prescriptions

Asseco has completed the implementation of the e-Prescriptions service in pilot hospitals. The first to benefit from the new functionalities are the Mazowieckie Voivodeship Hospital and the Independent Public Health Care Institution in Siedlce, as well as the Independent Public Health Care Institution in Krynica-Zdrój.

The project has been carried out on the basis of the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Centre for Health Care Information Systems. Thanks to the integration of Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS) with the P1 platform, the patients of the institutions covered by the implementation have the opportunity to use their e-Prescriptions in selected pharmacies in Siedlce and the Siedlce District, as well as in Krynica-Zdrój and the Nowosądeckie District.

AMMS is fully ready to connect to the central prescription recording system within the P1 platform. Before we started to implement the solution in the selected facilities, it had successfully passed a number of scenarios in a test environment made available by the Centre for Health Care Information Systems, said Krzysztof Groyecki, Vice President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland.

Ultimately, after an e-Prescription is issued by a physician, a patient will receive an information print containing a barcode. If a patient opens an Individual Patient Account (IKP), he will receive a special PIN code, which in combination with the PESEL number will allow him to collect medicines in a pharmacy. Thanks to the use of a web application, the handling of e-Prescriptions can be performed efficiently and without unnecessary printouts.

From January 1, 2020, in accordance with the assumptions of the Ministry of Health, e-Prescriptions will be issued in every medical office in Poland. Their introduction will allow, among other things, to eliminate the problem resulting from incorrect handwriting reading and will increase patient safety by limiting the possibility of dispensing a wrong medicine. It will also offer access to the history of issued prescriptions, which will improve coordination of the treatment process.
