Asseco Group strengthens its standing in Africa

Asseco Software Nigeria (ASN), a subsidiary of the Asseco Group, signed two new contracts in banking and insurance sectors in Nigeria. These contracts will be implemented in co-operation with Asseco Poland and Asseco Central Europe. This is a further step towards strengthening Asseco Group's presence in the African market.

The first project will be implemented for the benefit of Access Bank, one of the 5 largest banks in Nigeria. Under the terms of the agreement, ASN acting together with Asseco Poland, will implement Swift Confirmation Matching Module - part of the def3000/Treasury solution. This module allows for banking transactions to be closed by pairing them with the confirmation obtained from the Swift system. Estimated completion date is set for the third quarter of 2016.

The second contract was concluded with Wapic Insurance, one of the leading insurance companies in Nigeria. Asseco Software Nigeria together with Asseco Central Europe will implement the StarINS solution, a core insurance system that belongs to the Slovak company. Estimated completion date is set for the second quarter of 2017.

Africa is a strategic direction of development for the Asseco Group. I am glad that at Asseco Software Nigeria we are gradually building our position and winning new contracts in crucial sectors, such as banking and insurance. These two new contracts confirm the effective co-operation of the Group companies in foreign expansion - said Simon Melchior, CEO of Asseco Software Nigeria.

The implementation at Wapic Insurance is another contract within the insurance sector in Nigeria. In June 2015 ASN signed an agreement with Zenith Insurance, another of the market leaders. Under the agreement, ASN will implement its own solution called ASIRA, an annuity solution for Life Insurance companies. Estimated completion date is set for the second quarter of 2016.
