Asseco’s Solutions Ready to Cooperate with eVEB

The National Healthcare Fund is providing medical facilities with eVEB (Electronic Verification of Eligibility of Beneficiaries) information system, which will be used to electronically verify the eligibility of healthcare beneficiaries as of January 2013.

eVEB system will provide healthcare centers, which are contracted by the NHF, with an on-line access to the Central Register of the Insured. This will allow to quickly check whether or not a patient is eligible to receive healthcare services. In order to be applied efficiently, eVEB system needs to be integrated with IT solutions used by hospitals and clinics. The operational launch of this new functionality will be preceded by running trial tests in December 2012. This process is already taking place in several provinces, but medical facilities should join the launch of eVEB system as soon as possible.

“Asseco’s systems are ready to cooperate with eVEB. Therefore, our clients can already install and configure the necessary software components in order to ensure flawless communication with eVEB system (network service provided by the National Healthcare Fund). It is also advisable to define the group of users, who are granted access to eVEB system in the procedures of patient registration and collection of their eligibility confirmations. I cordially encourage you to undertake these actions already in December, as this will considerably affect the way hospitals and clinics are assessed by patients who expect efficient service,” – says Krzysztof Groyecki, Managing Director at the Healthcare Division, Asseco Poland.

Introduction of the electronic verification of beneficiaries will definitely facilitate and speed up the registration of patients in clinics and their admission to hospitals. eVEB system will enable personnel at hospitals and clinics to check the current status of the patient’s insurance rights over the Internet. When visiting a doctor, a patient will need to carry just a document proving their identity and personal identification number (PESEL). Thanks to the implementation of eVEB system, patients will be no longer required to present evidence of their health insurance (health record book, or insurance contribution payment certificate – RMUA).

Simplifying the procedure of settlements with the National Healthcare Fund is no less important to medical facilities. This is yet another reason why they should quickly implement the electronic verification of beneficiaries. The cost of treating a patient, whose eligibility has been confirmed in eVEB system, shall be paid by the NHF even if it ultimately turns out that such patient is not covered by health insurance. In such cases, not the medical facility but the NHF will have an obligation to recover the cost of treatment.
